New President appointed for Wurstfest

The Wurstfest Asscoiation of New Braunfels held its annual shareholder meetingon Wednesday, January 28.

A total of 197 members attended.  Outgoing President Scott Haag introduced 2015 President Stephan Hanz, who automatically assumes the role of President having served as President-Elect in 2014.

Other officers elected by the board of directors include Time Zip, President Elect and festival chairman; Eric Couch, Jim Hill and Dan Krueger, Vice Presidents, and Suzanne Herbelin, Secretary/Treasurer.

Leadership through experience

Hanz is a partner and owner of HMT Engineering & Surveying, which provides civil engineering services to New Braunfels and surrounding communities.  As an engineer, he has a unique opportunity to provide a critical role in planning and developing infrastructure of a growing community and has volunteered for several city committees including City of New Braunfels Drainage Impact Fee Committee - Past Chairman, City of New Braunfels Bond Advisory Committee.

In addition to his 14 years of service with the Wurstfest Association, Hanz serves on the Board of the Downtown Rotary Club and the Comal County Fair Association.  He is an active member of the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, former President of the New Braunfels Jaycees, and a 1999 graduate of the Leadership New Braunfels program.

New Braunfelser through and through

Hanz is a sixth-generation native of New Braunfels and can trace his history back to one of the original settlers who came over with Price Solms in 1845.

It excites him to be able to use his knowledge to help advance the town he and his family call home.  Hanz and his wife Donna have raised their son Zachary, now 23, here, and are doing the same with twin daughters Kate and Mia, 8.

The Wurstfest Association is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to promote the local economy through tourism and preserve and promote the community's rich German heritage.

Amanda Anding of HMT Chosen for Leadership New Braunfels Class 2015

The 2015 class marks the 23rd group of community leaders to go through the program, which boasts an alumni association of more than 500. Beginning in October the class will meet once a month for eight months culminating in a graduation ceremony in May 2015. Class days will cover areas such as government, economic development, social needs, personal skills and other key segments of the community. During the course of the program participants will meet New Braunfels and Comal County leaders one-on-one, build their leadership skills to use in the their business, civic and personal lives and develop networking relationships for a lifetime.

"The Leadership New Braunfels Steering Committee put great thought and effort into selecting the right candidates to fill these very coveted spots," said Kellie Stallings, Chair of the Leadership New Braunfels committee. We are confident that another outstanding class has been selected and look forward to watching their personal and professional growth while going through the program."

HMT Lands Spot on Aggies 100 List

HMT was recently spotlighted on the Aggie Top 100 list. Through the awards, Texas A&M University's Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship in the Mays Business School recognizes the 100 fastest-growing Aggie-owned or -managed businesses in the world. The companies are ranked by compound annual revenue growth from 2011 to 2013.
